My name is Sarah Lassiter and I am delighted to serve as the art teacher at IHM. Involvement with art has always enriched my life and I am excited to encourage the students’ creative spirits. Aside from providing opportunities for self-expression and learning practical skills, art teaches us all kinds of lessons about creative problem solving, resilience, and willingness to try new things. I aim to create an open and explorative classroom environment that fosters a sense of overall enthusiasm for art. 

I earned my MA in Visual Arts with a Painting Emphasis in 2021 and I hold BAs in Philosophy and Psychology. Outside of IHM, I teach adult painting classes at Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. In my own studio practice I work primarily with oil paints, watercolor, and collage. When I am not doing art, I enjoy game nights, reading, and hanging out with my cat.
