EARLY ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

OUR EARLY ELEMENTARY PROGRAM OFFERS YOUNG STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP SKILLS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE SCHOLASTICALLY IN A LOVING AND SPIRITUALLY NURTURING ENVIRONMENT. STUDENTS ARE GIVEN SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE THROUGH THE INCORPORATION OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES IN THE DAILY CURRICULUM.

THE SCHEDULED DAY BEGINS AT 8:00 AM AND ENDS AT 3:00 PM. MORNING CARE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE ARE AVAILABLE.

For most, this will be your child's first time in school! We understand that you and your child have met this day with excitement, and possibly some apprehension or perhaps a little of both. Our PK-3 program is designed to help children make the social and emotional adjustment to a formal school program.

Requirements for enrollment:

  • Student must be three years old by September 1st of the school year attending

  • A copy of the child's birth certificate

  • Up to date copy of immunization records

  • A copy of Baptismal Certificate (If Catholic)

Curriculum - Our PK program is Neuhaus based following the Science of Reading. Throughout the year, PK3 students have exciting opportunities to develop social, fine and gross motor skills, personal responsibility, and independence. Students practice helping one another, practicing manners, and kindness toward others.

Within our PK program students will learn:

  • sound structures of spoken language for letter recognition

  • how sounds map onto letters

  • through hands on multisensory activities

  • strategies for building instant recognition of words

Students learn through fun activities such as:

  • singing the alphabet song to many different tunes

  • working to identify a letter using only the sense of touch by feeling the straight and curved lines of the letter

  • matching letters of the alphabet with plastic letters and on an alphabet chart

  • tossing a ball or beanbag in a group while saying a letter of the alphabet in order

  • guessing a secret letter with clues that describe the letter

While similar in structure and schedule to our PK-3 program, PK-4 continues to build on social, intellectual, and moral foundations with a goal of preparing each student for the all important Kindergarten.

Requirements for enrollment:

  • Student must be four years old by September 1st of the school year attending

  • A copy of the child's birth certificate

  • Up to date copy of immunization records

  • A copy of Baptismal Certificate (If Catholic)

Curriculum - Continuing with Neuhaus as our primary guide, our PK4 program works to expand students' learning environment in preparation for Kindergarten. We encourage students' self-discovery with guided hands on experiences.

Kindergarten establishes good classroom expectations and procedures to assist in each child’s success, confidence and well-being. Our classroom environment is safe and secure; allowing a child to learn, develop self-discipline, good work habits, how to resolve conflicts peacefully, and think independently.

Requirements for enrollment:

  • Student must be five years old by September 1st of the school year attending

  • A copy of the child's birth certificate

  • Up to date copy of immunization records

  • A copy of Baptismal Certificate (If Catholic)

Curriculum - IHM Kindergarten follows the curriculum guide of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock.  It is an integrated program that emphasizes kindness, working together, and lays the groundwork for future academic success.
